Sildenafil or tadalafil? Same job, very different windows.

Sildenafil is the medicine behind Viagra. Tadalafil is the medicine behind Cialis. Both are FDA-approved generics, both work the same way, and both have decades of use behind them. The practical difference is time: sildenafil works in a window measured in hours, tadalafil in a window measured in days. A licensed clinician confirms which fits your health and your life.

The short answer

If you want a medicine you take for the occasion and are done with, sildenafil is the original and still the standard. If you would rather not do math around a window, tadalafil's longer duration, or its daily low-dose schedule, takes the clock out of it. Neither is more effective at its job. The choice is about how you want the medicine to fit your week, and that is a conversation your clinician is equipped to finish.

Is tadalafil stronger than sildenafil?

No. Strength is the wrong axis. They are different molecules doing the same job on different clocks, and head-to-head they are considered comparably effective at it. What differs is duration, food interaction, and how each one fits a schedule. Those are personal facts, not league-table facts, which is why the review asks about your life and not just your health history.

Can I try one and switch?

Yes, with your provider. Plenty of patients start on one and move to the other because of the window, a side effect, or simple preference. Your clinician manages the change; nothing about the first prescription locks you in.

What about vardenafil?

Vardenafil sits close to sildenafil in how it behaves and is less commonly prescribed today. We focus on the two medicines that cover the ground: the established hours-long option and the flexible days-long one. If you have taken vardenafil before, tell your clinician during review; that history is useful.

Questions

What happens if I am not approved?

You are not charged. Your clinician explains the reasoning and, where useful, what a better next step may be. Reviews are typically completed in under 24 hours.

Do these treat the same thing?

Yes. Both are PDE5 inhibitors prescribed for erectile dysfunction. The clinical decision is about your health picture and which schedule fits, not about one being the better medicine.

Is the generic the same as the brand?

Sildenafil is the same active ingredient as Viagra, and tadalafil the same as Cialis, in FDA-approved generic form. Same medicine, without the brand markup.

Ready when you are.

About 10 minutes. No charge unless your clinician approves.
