How to compare compounded GLP-1 providers

You want a plan you can afford, a prescription you understand and a care team you can reach. Those are the details that make an online weight-management program worth comparing.

Compare the complete plan. Look at the recurring cost, the exact medication, the dispensing pharmacy and the follow-up available after your first shipment. Start with a clinician’s assessment of whether a compounded preparation is appropriate for you.

First, compare the kind of treatment

FDA-approved medicines and compounded preparations follow different pathways. FDA reviews approved drugs for safety, effectiveness and quality before marketing. Compounding serves individual needs that an approved medicine cannot meet, such as an ingredient that must be avoided. A compounded preparation is not an FDA-approved generic or an interchangeable version of a brand-name product. FDA explains the distinction.

For GLP-1 care, a prescription alone does not settle every compounding requirement. FDA’s current policy addresses copies of commercially available medicines, including a prescriber’s documented determination that a change makes a significant difference for an identified patient. Adding vitamin B12 is not, by itself, a blanket exception. The reason for a particular preparation belongs in your clinical evaluation. Read the current policy.

AnthologyRX: monthly and quarterly plans, with named pharmacies

Clinical care is provided by independent licensed clinicians affiliated with Arora Health & Aesthetics, LLC. Use the patient portal to ask about side effects, dosing or a change in your health. AnthologyRX support handles billing, shipping and account questions. Review the care standards and assessment-to-follow-up process before choosing a plan.

Five questions that make the comparison useful

  1. What will I pay after the starting offer? Add medication, required membership or visits, shipping, supplies and any labs. Check whether the price changes with the prescribed dose, and whether a lower monthly figure requires advance payment.
  2. Who prepares and dispenses my prescription? Ask for the pharmacy’s legal name and location, then check the appropriate state board. Confirm it can dispense your preparation into your state. A pharmacy name on a website does not, on its own, answer both questions. Find your state’s verification service.
  3. What exactly is in the medication? Confirm every active ingredient, concentration, route and quantity. For semaglutide, ask whether the preparation uses semaglutide or a salt form. Ask the care team to explain your prescribed dose and syringe markings using your actual label. FDA’s preparation guidance.
  4. How does follow-up work? Ask who answers clinical questions, how treatment is reassessed and what happens if side effects appear. If you want scheduled video appointments, a dietitian or laboratory monitoring, confirm the service and cost directly.
  5. What happens when my plan changes? Read the renewal, cancellation and refund terms. Confirm what happens if treatment is not prescribed or needs to stop, and whether medication already sent to the pharmacy can be refunded.

For AnthologyRX’s current consultation, cancellation and refund terms, read our refund policy and terms of service. Bring preparation-specific questions to your clinician or pharmacist before using your medication.

Published compounded GLP-1 prices and billing terms

What about manufacturer self-pay options?

Include FDA-approved options in the conversation with your clinician. Manufacturer programs quote medication prices, so account for any separate prescribing or ongoing-care cost when comparing them with a complete care plan.

  • Zepbound through LillyDirect: published self-pay prices start at $299 for 2.5 mg and $399 for 5 mg. The $449 price for 7.5–15 mg requires refilling within 45 days; otherwise listed prices rise to $499 for 7.5 mg or $699 for 10–15 mg. A supply period is 28 days, and injection supplies cost extra. Eligibility and program terms apply. LillyDirect pricing.
  • Wegovy through NovoCare: pills cost $149 at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg and $299 at 9 or 25 mg per 30-tablet supply. Standard injections cost $349 per four pens; eligible new patients can receive two starting-dose fills at $199 each through December 31, 2026. Wegovy HD 7.2 mg costs $399. Eligibility and program terms apply. NovoCare pricing.

These are different preparations and care arrangements. A price comparison cannot establish that two medications are clinically equivalent or right for the same person.

Which facts can you verify independently?

AnthologyRX’s prices and included services above are our published commitments. The competitor information comes from those companies’ own published terms. Neither is an independent audit of the care a patient receives.

State boards provide an independent way to check a pharmacy or clinician’s license. Our pharmacy directory links the dispensing partners shown on our treatment pages to verification resources. FDA provides the approval and compounding framework. Preparation-specific testing is a separate question: ask what documentation applies to your prescription and whether it is available to you. A current license, a quality program and a test result each answer a different question.

Choose the care that fits your life

AnthologyRX brings a predictable monthly price and a direct route to clinical questions to individualized compounded care. If your priorities include insurance navigation, regular dietitian appointments or a specific FDA-approved medication, compare those services explicitly. The strongest choice is the one that meets your medical needs and gives you a clear plan for what happens next.
